CLEARFIELD – Jennie Lile Kern Beutler. Loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, and the perfect lady, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 14, 2013 after a short illness. She was born September 28, 1923 to Jacob Kern and Phoebe Lile Burbank Kern, in Malad, Idaho. She enjoyed a happy childhood with her siblings, Charles, Fay, Elise, and Earl. Although there was not much money in those depression years, their home was filled with love and kindness and they were taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to love their Savior. These teachings became the pattern for her life.
She met her eternal companion, John Albert Beutler, one night while working at her family’s drive-in restaurant. He went home and told his mother that he had met the gal he was going to marry; however, Jennie took a little more convincing. They were married for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on June 3, 1943; a Marriage that would last for over 63 years. Their marriage was filled with love and kindness and she supported her husband faithfully as he served many years in leadership positions in the church. They were blessed with four children, Joanne (Bill) Isakson, Clearfield; Janine (Blair) Rogers, Pleasant View; Janice (Bob) Miller, Syracuse; John (Valerie) Beutler, Layton. She was the World’s Best Mother and taught her children by example.
Her sweetheart passed away in 2007. Although losing her husband was difficult, she found comfort spending time with friends and family. She loved family gatherings, activities, and she never forgot anyone’s birthday. She kept busy and active as a member of the DUP, Literary Club, friends clubs, and she loved giving service. She served in every auxiliary in the church and especially enjoyed serving as President of the Relief Society in the Clearfield North Stake. They also served for many years as ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple. She also loved crafts, sewing, gardening, trips to Island Park, keeping her house inviting for all, and was an excellent cook. But most of all, she loved her family and time she spent with them.
She is survived by her children, one brother Earl B. (Nanette) Kern, St. George, Utah; 18 grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, two sisters and one great-granddaughter, Caroline Isakson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield North Stake Center, 151 N. 1000 W., Clearfield. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
