Our kind and loving husband, dad, and grandfather, brother, and compassionate friend passed away April 11, 2014, at Portneuf Medical Center of complications from surgery.
Jeff was born December 17, 1952, to Thomas Garth Thomas and Rebecca John Thomas in Logan, Utah. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints and he graduated from Malad High School and attended Utah State University. He returned home to the family farm and married Lou Ann Thomas on December 27, 1975. During their 38 years of marriage, they lived in and farmed in St. John and Crystal Idaho.
Jeff was always involved in the farming community serving as a member of the ASCS committee, St. John Irrigation Company, Samaria Irrigation, and the Oneida County Fair Board; he always supported the fat stock sale.
Jeff was the third generation of Thomas Columbia Sheep and followed his true love of farming. He expanded from farming with his dad to having his own and operating with his son. He and his son, Tyrell have ventured into many aspects of farming developing and converting dry farms to irrigated farms. Developing a sod farm Double T Turf. They expanded their acreage into corn. Jeff was a hard worker and if a job needed to be done he never quit until completed.
He was a devoted family man and truly loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He had a special bond with his sister and brother. One of his true loves was fishing with his wife at Island Park where they had made many friends. Jeff tolerated cats but truly loved his dogs.
Jeff leaves behind his beloved wife Lou Ann, three children Becky (Shawn) Blaisdell, Malad, ID, Tyrell (Jaime) Thomas, Malad, ID Janie (Cody) Bright, Springcreek, NV Grandchildren Cina Blaisdell, Hope Blaisdell, Jake Blaisdell, Alyssa Blaisdell, Trey Thomas, Talon Thomas, Tyce Thomas, Kallie Bright, Brielle Bight. He is also survived by a sister Janesse (Dean) Baker, Pete (Jacquline) Thomas. He is also survived by nieces and nephews who loved and looked up to him. He was preceded in death by his parents. “I’ll see ya kid!”
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Malad LDS Stake Chapel, 1250 N. 1100 W. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Stake Center and Wednesday prior to the services from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
