FORMER MALADIAN DIES AT MOSCOW

MOSCOW – Jay V. Thompson, 55, junior high school principal here since 1946 and a veteran of 30 years in Idaho education, died October, 1958. He had been ill for several weeks. Death came at a Spokane hospital.

Mr. Thompson was graduated from the University of Idaho in 1927 and participated in track and field. He began his teaching career at Carey, Idaho as athletic coach in 1928.

He later coached at Montpelier, Oakley, Kimberly and in 1937 became physical education director for Pocatello Junior High School.

Mr. Thompson came here in 1943 as a high school football and basketball coach.

In 1946 he was named the junior high principal and retired from coaching.

Born January 26, 1903 at Sterling, UT, Mr. Thompson spent his youth at Malad, ID. His wife and two daughters survive him.
