Janie May Hartley, 96, of Pocatello, died Friday night, October 24, 1997 at the Ridge Wind Residence, Pocatello.
She was born on January 31, 1901 in Butte, Nebraska, the third of 10 children of Walter Jerome and Janie Lucinda Munt Conarroe. When she was 12 the family moved to the Rockland Valley and lived at Roy Summit.
In 1919 she married James H. Hartley in Malad, Idaho.
Janie enjoyed quilting, sewing and family gatherings. She was a member of the American Falls United Methodist Church, War Mothers, the Rebekah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary and United Methodist Women’s Fellowship.
Jamie is survived by two sons, Harold G. (Nora) Hartley of American Falls, and Glen G. (Dorothy) Hartley of Georgetown; one daughter, Verla Rae (George) Haskell of American Falls; one sister, Myrtle Cottrell; eight grandchildren: Shanna (Kent) Marla, Richard (Norma), Gloria (Jim), Sherrie (Chuck) Kevin (JoLynn), Kurt (Janice) and Glade; 19 great-grandchildren, Troy, Laurie, Natalie, Bryan, Tara, Heather, Jessie, Keli, Sara, Justin, Lynn, Justin, Levi, Alisha, Cassie, Eric, Brittney, Amanda, Michael and Brook; six great-great grandchildren: Casey, Deven, Logan, Shanah, Mariah and Kendra.
Her parents, husband, two daughters, Doroty Arleen and Barbara Jean, five brothers: Ernest, Floyd Walter, Cecil and Clarence, and three sisters: Dessie, Mildren and Lucille preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 1997, at the United Methodist Church, 710 Fort Hall, American Falls, with Pastor Kim Fields officiating. The visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Davis Mortuary, 170 Idaho St., American Falls. The interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Rockland.
Her favorite charity was the Idaho Youth Ranch.
Janie’s family would like to express their deep appreciation for the loving care which has been given by the care givers at Ridge Wind Residence.
