Englund, Jane Jones McMillin – 31 Oct 1922

After a valiant struggle, Jane Jones McMillin Englund passed away Sunday, September 19, 1999, in Albuquerque, New Mexico from heart failure. Her loving daughter, Nancy, was by her side.

Jane arrived a Halloween baby on October 31, 1922 several minutes after her identical twin sister, Jean, was born. Jane was raised in Malad City, Idaho, by Lawrence and Marie Jones. She attended University of Idaho and graduated from University of Colorado School of Nursing. She was always proud of the fact that she was one of the first nurses to graduate with a Bachelors Degree. She was an accomplished duplicate bridge player and loved to swim and ski. Politics she followed with a passion.

She married John S. McMillin, M.D. with whom she had four children. She later married Leone Englund who has remained her steadfast throughout the years.

Jane is survived by her children, Nancy McMillin (Rod Thomas), Deidra (Ray) Groth, Bill (Kristy) McMillin, and Tom (Raelene) Mcmillin, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her sisters, Jean Byrd, Alice (Jim) Ward, and Julia (Khalil) Thomas. She was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Jones, whose wife, Joyce Spaulding, has continued to be part of the family.

Her vibrant personality and infectious smile left an indelible mark on everyone who met her. She made the world a brighter place with her sense of humor, intelligence and unconditional acceptance of people. We lost a “grand” woman, and we will never forget her.

Funeral services were in Malad, Idaho at the Horsley Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 22. Burial was the Malad City Cemetery immediately following the service. A celebration of Jane’s life was held at Ray and Deidra Groth’s home in Salt Lake City after the funeral services.
