(October 7, 1928 – May 17, 2014) 

James L. Gamble, age 85, of Malad Idaho passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, from injuries sustained in a fall at home. The son of James O. and Emma Marsh Gamble, he was raised in Grace, ID and later moved to Salt Lake City, UT. Known for his work ethic, Jim labored on potato farms, in a sheep camp, as a railroader, a US Infantry Soldier in the Korean War, a freight dock worker, a lumberjack, a school bus driver, and anything else that needed to be done. He lived over 44 years in a home he built in Farmington Utah and has lived the past 7 years in Malad Idaho. He loved riding his horses in the mountains, rodeoing with his children and reading books. Jim could comfortably talk to anyone he met and enjoyed swapping stories with them. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and his life reflected his faith in Christ. Jim and his wife of 58 years, Cheryle Mousley Gamble, were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He also leaves behind five children: Nedra (Ed) Parrott; Benny Gamble; Miki Gamble; Cody (Darla) Gamble; Mike (Jill) Gamble. He loved teasing his nine grandchildren: Tressa (Jon) Gobet ; Aaron, Schyenne, Fayth, Rayne, William, Dixon, Titus and Turner Gamble and 1 great-grandson, Liam Gobet. He also leaves two sisters, Janet Price & Maxine Pillings. Jim has been the patriarch of the family for nearly 40 years and it seems he has two titles: “Dad” to his kids or “Uncle Jim” to scores of nieces and nephews – each title bearing a special meaning. He will be remembered by his love for family, admiration of horses and freedom, and his light-hearted teasing. He was a true friend and helped others with anything they needed. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 7 sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Horsley Funeral Home: 132 West 300 North, Malad City, Idaho at 12 noon. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday prior to services from 10:30 -11:45 AM. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
