Curtis Young
ST. ANTHONY – James Curtis Young, 86, longtime St. Anthony resident, died April 4, 1992, at the Rexburg Nursing Center.
He was born Feb. 16, 1906, at Twin Groves to Charles and Adrienne Wilson Young. He attended schools at Twin Groves and St. Anthony. He went to Cali- fornia when he was 16 to work with his brother as a hod carrier and plasterer. When he returned to St. Anthony, he worked as a service station attendant.
On Sept. 30, 1931, he married Rosemond Irene Hall at St. Anthony. Their marriage was solemnized Feb. 6, 1952, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. In 1938 he bought a farm west of St. Anthony and operated it until 1965. During winters he was employed by Remington’s in their potato warehouse for many years. He worked as sexton of the Riverview Cemetery in St. Anthony and, as another part-time job, he transported the mail from the railroad depot to the post office. His wife died April 5, 1990.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in the Elders quroum presidency.
Survivors include his children, Merrill James Young of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Eugene (Patsy) Clayton of Idaho Falls, Vernon Curtis Young of Escondido, Calif., Leon Charles Young of Oakland, Ore., and Mrs. Dearl (Irene) Olsen of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Tressie Heileson of Malad, and Clara Stimpson of Rexburg; 14 grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the St. Anthony LDS 3rd Ward, 507 W. Second North, with Bishop Jerry Edgington officiating. The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary in St. Anthony and Wednesday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in
Wilford Cemetery.
