James Beach Willie, (1927)

JAMES B. WILLIE

James Beach Willie, 72, of Buist, Idaho, passed away late Monday, April 17, 2000, in the Pocatello Idaho Veterans Home. He was born July 2, 1927, in Logan, Utah, a son of James Simon and Mary Diana Beach Willie. He was raised and educated in Holbrook, Buist, and Malad, Idaho; and Logan, Utah. He was a member of the LDS Church.

Most of his life was spent on the family farm in Buist, which he purchased from his father. During World War II, he served as an Electrician’s Mate with the US Navy.

On September 11, 1948, he married Gwena Lee Andersen in Elko, Nevada. He farmed with his family in Buist and spent the winter months in Hyrum, Utah, where he mainly worked as a carpenter.

In 1968, he and Gwena sold their family home in Hyrum and with much labor and love, Jim remodeled the Buist farm home so they could live year round on the farm.

Jim had a love of life. He enjoyed his friendships with family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, horses – but most of all, was his love of his family and enjoyment from farming.

He is survived by his wife, Gwena, of Malad; a son, Don (Nancy) Wilie, Logan, Utah; and four daughters: Debbie (Greg) Derrick of West Jordan, Utah; Susan (Eric) Leavitt, Malad; Leisa (Clayne) Gibbs of Springville, Utah; and Sondra (Marvin) Ekstrom, Malad; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. A brother, Reed (Sharon) Willie of Hyrum, Utah also survives him. He was preceded in death by his ????? ????????

SPRING
Spring is here at last.
When you hear the birds sing
With their happy song,
In the springtime long and gay.

When the trees begin to sprout,
The birds begin to sing about,
With their happy song of play,
When the grass is green and gay.
Oh, you should hear their song,
How happy you would be.
They sing the whole day long,
While they sit up in the tree.

The spring is full of song,
And the trees are green again.
Now you know when spring is here,
For the birds always sing a song of cheer.
