J. W. Jones
J. W. Jones age 73 died at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Wednesday, December 30, 1992 of complications following surgery. J. W. was born November 29, 1919 at Cherry Creek, Idaho, the son of Morris Henry Jones and Winnie Williams Jones.
J. W. attended Cherry Creek grade school and graduated from Malad High School. He attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah, and graduated with a Bachelor of science in agriculture. He married Norma Helen Jones February 12,1941 in Logan, Utah. This marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple.
J. W. was active in the L.D.S. church and served in the bishopric. J. W. had a ranch north of Rigby where he raised Registered Angus Cattle. In 1989 he was voted cattleman of the year in Jefferson County. He was secretary for the North Rigby Irrigation Canal Company for 38 years. J.W. served with the U.S. Army in Germany during WW II and was a member of the V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Norma H. Jones, Rigby, Idaho; two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Janiel) Brucks, Burlington Massachusetts, Sandra Holder, Rigby, Idaho: one brother, Morris Jones, Bountiful, Utah and one sister, Mrs. Keith (Delone) Bybee, Ogden, Utah. Nine grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Sue Petersen; one brother, LaMar Jones; one sister, Elda Jones and one grand – son, Robert Gregory Holder.
Funeral services were held on January 2, 1993 at 11:00 a.m. in the East Rigby L. D.S. Stake Center with Bishop Gerald Wolz officiating. Interment was in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckerseli Memorial Chapel.
Correction
In the obituary for J.W. Jones, age 73, who passed away December 30, the name of a son, Michael Jones of Rigby, Idaho, was omitted from the list of family survivors.
