Ivan Schwartz dies Wednesday, Feb. 20, 1980

Ivan William Schwartz, 59, Malad, died Wednesday, February 20, 1980 at the Oneida County Hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, February 23, at the St. John LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Gene Edwards officiating.

He was born Aug. 31, 1920, at Logan, Utah, to William and Olga Serem Schwartz. He grew up in the Elkhorn area near Malad and graduated from Malad High School in 1938. On Oct. 16, 1941, he married Cleo Davis in the Logan LDS Temple. He had farmed and ranched for many years in the Malad area. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served as a scoutmaster for many years and held the office of Elder. He had served in the Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Malad; three sons and four daughters: DeLon and Ivan William Schwartz, both of Malad; Kevin Davis Schwartz, Casper, Wyo.; Mrs. Joseph (Carolyn) Barnes, Malad; Mrs. Terry (JaNae) Wood, Casper, Wyoming; Mrs. Mike (Ann) Isaacson, Casper, Wyo., and Ruth (Jean) Schwartz, Malad; 16 grandchildren; a brother and two sisters, Dale Schwartz and Mrs. Sylvera (Hilda) John, both of Malad, and Mrs. Reed (Donna) Bloxham, Idaho Falls.

The family prayer was given by Steven Dalton; invocation, Goff Schwartz; prelude, postlude, Donna Talbot; life sketch, Ann Schwartz Isaacson; vocals, Wanda Edwards, Lowell Castleton; speakers, Bishop Myron Jones, Lynn Elcock; benediction, Dave West; Bishop Darrell Swartz dedicated the grave. Military rites by the American Legion Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65. Burial and concluding rites were at the St. John Cemetery.
