Idona Ann Bloxham Hamilton

Idona Ann Bloxham Hamilton, 26 October 1907

BRIGHAM CITY/FRESNO, CA – Idona Ann Bloxham Hamilton, age 85, was reunited with her beloved husband, Chet, when she passed away from this early existence on February 27, 2003 in Fresno, CA, while being cared for by her daughter, Valerie Anne Hirning.

She was born October 26, 1907 in Downey, ID to Richard Thomas and Elsie Henderson Bloxham. She graduated from Downey High School. She spent her early years of life in Downey where she met her future husband, Chester Samuel Hamilton. They were married on December 22, 1928 in Ogden, UT. They were sealed in the Ogden Temple on August 22, 1992.

After her husband Chet graduated from pharmacy school, they moved to Preston, ID for several years after which they moved to Brigham City where Chet purchased a drug store in the early 1930’s, which later became the Hamilton Drug. She lived most of her life in Brigham City until Chet retired after which they moved to Palm Springs, CA where they spent over 20 wonderful years together in retirement.

Idona was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, fulfilling many callings including Sunday School coordinator, Sunday School teacher, Primary teacher and young Women’s advisor, leaving her sweet spirit and affecting the lives of many young teenagers. She was very active in the community, having served as president of the Civic Improvement Club, president of the women’s golf and country club and other community activities.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Lyle Samuel (Shirleen) Hamilton, Mesquite, NV; Richard Max (LouJeanne) Hamilton, Perry, UT and Valerie Hirning, Fresno, CA. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Dora Elsie Christensen, Arimo, ID; Jennie Rachael Henderson, Providence, UT; Don Devere (Beth) Bloxham, Pocatello, ID; Verdis Ileen Cox, Idaho Falls, ID; Merle H. (Leora) Bloxham, Franklin, ID and Von G. (Lois) Bloxham, Downey, ID; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held March 5, 2003 at the Brigham City 4th Ward Chapel with Bishop Bruce Wankler officiating. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
