
Horace Wayne Higbee
June 1, 1938 – May 17, 2025
Horace Wayne Higbee, 86, returned to his Heavenly Father, May 17, 2025, at the Franklin County Medical Center TCU in the presence of family.
Wayne was born June 1, 1938, in Cedar City, Utah to Edward Thurman and Thelma Miller Higbee. He was the youngest of three children.
Wayne attended schools in Cedar City and graduated from Cedar City High School in 1957.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Eastern States and Canadian Maritime Provinces Mission from 1959 to 1961.
After his mission, he enlisted in the Utah National Guard where he served for six years and was discharged as the “Acting First Sargent”.
Wayne attended Southern Utah State College, Utah State University, and Weber State College, graduating in 1967 with a B.S. degree in automotive engineering technology.
Wayne married Sylvia Ann Degn on August 25, 1965, in Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They have been blessed with four sons and one daughter.
Wayne has worked in construction, and a drafter, a surveyor, auto mechanic, dairyman, farmer and security guard. He moved to Downey, Idaho in August 1971 where he has lived since that time.
Wayne has served in many callings in the LDS Church. He served as a member of the bishopric, ward executive secretary, Sunday school president many times.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward and Bevan. He is survived by his wife, Ann and four sons; Brent (Amber) of Kuna, Idaho; Brad (Tesha) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Bryan (Sara) of Kansas City, Missouri, Curtis (Jessica) of Idaho Falls, Idaho and his daughter Alicia (Dan) Aagard of Downey. They have also been blessed with seven granddaughters: Tiffany, Melody Ann, Nakell, Kyleen, Shayla and Aizlyn and five grandsons: Draven, Carter, Mason, Justus and Brandon.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Virginia Ward LDS Church at 12 noon, with a viewing held from 10:00-11:30 A.M. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Cambridge, Idaho Cemetery.
