Helorum Moon, Malad Valley Pioneer, Died Wednesday

Helorum Moon, 93, Malad valley pioneer, farmer and stockman, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 3, 1952 at his home in Henderson Creek.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the Malad Second Ward chapel.

A son of Hugh and Elizabeth Kemmish Moon, he was born in Salt Lake City, Dec. 2, 1859. When he was two years old, the family moved to the Dixie Mission which later became St. George, Utah. They lived there until June 11, 1866 when they moved to Farmington, Utah. In the spring of 1896 Mr. Moon’s father purchased a farm at Henderson Creek and one year later the family moved there to make their home. As a young man of 15 years old, Mr. Moon started freighting from Corinne, Utah to Salmon, Idaho and Butte, Montana with three wagons and nine yoke of oxen. After several years of freighting he engaged in farming and stock raising. Mr. Moon was married to Charlotte Harris on Feb. 19 1883.

Surviving are his widow and the following sons and daughters: Elva E. Moon, William E. Moon, Ira R. Moon and Lizzie M. Jones all of Malad; Verl Moon, Ogden, Utah; Ralph E. Moon, Salt Lake City, Delph Moon, Seaside, Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Jess N. Ward, Malad.

Friends may call at the Malad Funeral Home Friday evening and Saturday until time of services.
