GARLAND- Hattie Betha Buttars Archibald Hodge, 91, died Sunday, July 30 in Tremonton, Utah.
Hattie was born November 17, 1900 in Clarkston, Utah, a daughter of Daniel and Emma Grover Buttars. She spent her childhood in Clarkston, Utah and received her education in Cache Valley schools.
She married Allen Owen Archibald on December 11, 1918. They lived in Burley, Idaho and Fielding, Utah. They were later divorced.
Hattie married Abram R. Hodge on December 16, 1942 in Malad, Idaho. They made their home in Garland, Utah. Since his death on January 24, 1976, she had lived alone at her home in Garland, until she recently moved to the Box Elder County Care Center in Tremonton.
Active in the LDS church organizations, she worked in the Primary auxiliary for 40 years serving as president in both the Fielding and Burley as the member of the Bear River LDS Stake Primary Board. She was the counselor in MIA in Fielding and visiting teacher for more than 50 years. She has been an ardent temple worker and chair of the Garland 1st Ward Special Interest single adults.
She has been active in civil affairs. She was a member of the Box Elder County Woman’s Legislative Council and had been a member of the Ladies Self Culture Club for many years, serving two terms as president of the club. She was also a member of the Garland Bridge Club.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Max (Karma) Archibald of Sunset, Utah; Lois (Daniel ) Begovich of Burlingame, California; Zenna (James J.) White of Garland; Gaye (Gary) Miller of Watsonville, California; 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by step children and their spouses, Don (Patty) Hodge of Santa Ana, California; Robert (Ruth) Hodge of Sunset; Udell “Bud” (LaDean) Hodge of Roy; Max (Ruth) Hodge Albuquerque, New Mexico; Dorthy (Berkeley) Parkinson of Rexburg, Idaho; 18 step grandchildren, 45 step great- grandchildren; and one great great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a son Vernal Archibald; six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 2, at the Garland Stake Center at 11 a.m. With Branch President Max Ward officiating.
Friends may call on Tuesday, August 1 at the Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home 6 to 8 p.m. And Wednesday 9:45 to 1030 a.m. Interment will be in the Clarkston, Utah Cemetery.
