Harriet Rose Fry

FRY, HARRIET ROSE, March 16, 1868 – April 13, 1957

Harriet Rose Fry, 89, died at the home of a son, Joseph H. Fry in Malad of a heart ailment. She had been ill for several years.

Mrs. Fry was born march 16, 1868 in Pilton, Somersetshire, England, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Gould Rose and was reared and educated there.

She was married to James Fry in Banwell, England on August 15, 1888 and they moved to Ferndale, South Wales in 1890. They came to the United States with their family in 1912, settling first near Malad where they engaged in farming. She moved with her husband to Salem, Oregon in 1920.

Mr. Fry died in 1944 and she returned to Malad in 1950.

She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, William J. Fry, Ogden, UT; Joseph H. and Arthur J. Fry, both of Malad; seven grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Elsie Tickwell, Pilton, England.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Malad Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Bruce Crawford officiating. Prelude and postlude music was played by Mr. Joyce Jones. Musical numbers consisted of vocal solos by Helen E. Jones and Keith Evans. Speaker was Griff L. Jenkins and the casket bearers were James W.J. Evans, Albert Bush, Owen Jones, Dale Hedstrom, Myron T. Jones, Jr. and Matthew Hill. Graveside rites and burial were at Salem, Oregon.
