Harold John Vaughan, “Johnny,” of Downey, died Sunday, October 29, 1995, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born in lava Hot Springs on March 17, 1940, the son of William John Morgan Vaughan and Melleta Jane Kofoed Vaughan. He received his education at North Marsh.

He enlisted in the Army at the age of 16, along with his brother, Charles William Vaughan. They belonged to the 4th Armored Division, 195th AAA Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas. He served in the States and Korea.

He married Donna Rae Bocek April 29, 1961 in Elko, Nev.

He was a teletype repairman and a sharpshooter. He furthered his education, including several courses at Idaho State University in welding, refrigeration, electronics, and electrical studies.

Johnny was employed at J.R. Simplot for more than 30 years. He started as a maintenance man, moved to the carpentry field, and became a chief carpenter. At the age of 32 he moved into the electrical field, where he was an electrical instrumentation specialist. He enjoyed his co-workers.

Johnny was always striving to do more. He started Vaughan’s Farms and Vaughan’s Electric, which he loved doing with his wife and children.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Rae Bocek Vaughan, and his children, Valorie and James Grey, McCammon, Fred and Stacy Burmester, Arimo, Tracy and Holly Vaughan, Pocatello, Mike and Shelly Vaughan, Downey, Lisa and Steven Toley, lava Hot Springs, Shane and Michele Vaughan, Downey; and 20 grandchildren; his two sisters, Wilma and Grant Phillips, Downey, Mary and Larry Allen, Ogden, Utah; his uncle, Lionel Vaughan, and several other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, William and Melleta Vaughan, and by a brother Charles Vaughan.

John was loved by man , and could argue the knowledge of anything with anyone. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. In the Lava Hot Springs LDS Church. Friends may call on Wed Nov. 1 at the home of Mike Vaughan, 3470 Woodland Road, Downey, between 7 p.m. To 9p.m; also Thursday from 10a.m. To 11a.m. At the church. Burial will be in the lava Hot Springs Cemetery, with manning-Wheatley, 510 N. 12th Ave., Pocatello, in charge of the arrangements.
