Hannah Peterson Chivers (Birth – 29 August 1858)

Very impressive funeral services for Mrs. James Chivers 82, who died at the family residence Saturday afternoon (15 March 1941) were held Tuesday in the stake tabernacle at 12:00. The services were conducted by Bishop Guy Servoss.

A prayer was offered at the home by H. I. Mills. Musical numbers were given by Tovey Brothers, accompanied by Professor Powell, Keith Evans, accompanied by Mrs. Evans, Margaret E. Jones, accompanied by Professor Powell. Speakers were: Rev. Horeis and Thomas W. Richards. Prayer was offered by W. H. Richards, benediction by Arch Harris. The grave was dedicated by Guy Benson. Mrs. Lee R. Ossmen was organist of the services.

Mrs. James Chivers was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, August 29, 1858, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Peterson. She came to America with her parents in 1870. The family was among the earliest settles of Cache Valley, Utah.

She was married to Richard E. Thomas of Malad in June 1879 and to James T. Chivers of Malad in March 1898.

Besides her husband, three daughters and two sons survive: Mrs. Maude Sawyer of Logan, Edward Thomas, Tetonia, Emrys Thomas, Salt Lake City, Mrs. Alfred Edwards of Malad and Mrs. A. J. Kidgell, Idaho Falls.

The out-of-town visitors who attended the funeral were: Mary Peterson, Millie Shaw, Serge Bodrero, Suv Bodrero, Fred Kidgell, Mrs. Fred C. Kidgell, and Maude Sawyer all of Logan. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Vaughan, Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Chivers and family all of Pocatello. Emrys Thomas and family, Douglas Sawyer of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Carl Follett and Mrs. Erma Follett of Preston, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Kidgell of Idaho Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Thomas of Tetonia.

MALAD CITY, Ida—Services for Mrs. Hannah Larson Chivers, 81, were held Today at 12 o’clock noon in the Malad Stake Tabernacle.

Mrs. Chivers died at the family residence last Friday, (15 Mar 1941) following a paralytic stroke on Monday. She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in August, 1859, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Peterson. She came to America with her parents in 1868 and the family was among the early settlers of the Malad Valley.

She was married to Richard E. Thomas, who died, and later to James T. Chivers.

Mrs. Chivers is survived by her husband, three daughters, and two sons: Mrs. Maude Sawyer of Logan, Edward Thomas of Tetonia, Ida,; Mrs. Alfred Edwards of Malad and Mrs. Ariel Kidgell of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
