H. Vinton Peden, 76, of Malad, died Tuesday morning, June 21, 1994, of sudden heart failure.

He was born April 28, 1918, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Willard R. and Viola Louise Peden. He was the second son of three children. He grew up and was educated in Parma, Ohio. Vee was an amateur bike racer, and qualified for the 1940 Olympics.

Vee married Mary Jane Williams, October 27, 1941, in Malad, Idaho. He was then employed with AT&T, and they lived in various locations, eventually settling in Malad. Vee became a partner and later owner of Malad Heating & Appliance Store. Vee was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, and served in a variety of positions. He served as chairman of the Oneida County Red Cross. He was a member of the Eagles Club. He was in partnership in the Malad Bowl. Vee was honored for his community service in 1977 by the Modern Woodmen of America.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Malad; six daughters and their husbands, Mary Louise (David) Haskett of West Linn, Oregon, Linda Jean (Dave) Wilberg of American Fork, Utah, Eleanor Marie (Michael) Bryant, of Catonsville, Md., Donna Vee (Kelly) Edwards of Ontario, Oregon, Rhonda Kay (Kirk) Allen of Carol Stream, Ill., and Velma Lee (Kim) Hee, of Malad; one sister Jeanne Lavonne Peden, of Malad; and 30 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Willard M. Peden of Cleveland, Ohio, and his parents.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 25, 1994 in the Malad Stake Center, with Bishop Jared Crowther officiating. Interment was in the Malad City Cemetery, with Masonic rites.

H.V. Peden, 76, of Malad, died this morning, June 21, 1994, in the Oneida County Hospital of sudden heart failure. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad. A complete obituary will appear in Wednesday’s Idaho State Journal.
