WARD, GOLDEN CLIFFORD, January 28, 1910 – July 28, 2006

Golden Clifford Ward, 96, of Malad passed away Friday, July 28, 2006 at his home of natural causes.

He was born January 28, 1910 in Malad, Idaho, a son of Joseph Welton and Elizabeth Christianna Allen Ward. He was a lifelong resident of Malad. He graduated from Malad High School and attended Utah State University and Brigham Young University.

He married Emma Louise Spencer on October 28, 1937 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple, and eight children were born to this marriage: J. Golden (Alice), Tremonton, UT; J. Spencer (Arline), Hyrum, UT; Richard A. (Helen), Malad; Mary, Malad; Lorene Kay Marsing (Carl), Lehi, UT; Carol Dawn, Malad; Ryan D. (Bobbie), Malad; and Kenneth W. (Tracy), Malad.

He was an active member of The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout his life.

He was devoted to his family and always emphasized education and service. He supported seven of his children on missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and helped all of his children attain goals in higher education.

He farmed and ranched all his life and was especially talented as a teamster and horseman. He has a kind and gentle nature and was a man of integrity and principle. He loved music and had a beautiful bass voice.

He is preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Annie Evans Ward; four brothers, Joseph W., George E., J. Moroni (June) and Rulon A. (Rose), and three sisters, Cleophia Ward, Mary Ellis and Eunice Tovey.

He is survived by his sisters, Lucille Carlson of Orem, UT, Donna Bowen and MayDell (Lloyd) Barfus, Malad. He is also survived by 42 grandchildren and 82 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 1. Interment was in the Malad City Cemetery.
