George Joseph Swank

George Joseph Swank, “Joe”, age 54, passed from his earthly life on April 18, 2021, in Weihai, China.

Joe was born February 9, 1967 in Boise, Idaho to George and Mary Swank formerly of Malad and was the youngest of eight children. Joe grew up in Boise and Kuna then moved to Utah with his parents where he joined the Air National Guard. This allowed him to train while visiting many parts of the world. The family later moved to Malad.

Joe was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the wards in which he attended.

He met his wife, Meribel, joining in marriage on November 5, 2011. He became part of a welcoming family in the Philippines and immediately became a daddy to a young son. A second baby boy came bouncing into the world a few years later, with the crowning jewel, a girl, arriving next.

Joe was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He leaves a legacy of love and devotion to his wife and children and will be remembered for his many charitable acts of kindness, his big smile, and his gifts of time and of self.

Joe is survived by his wife, Meribel; two sons, Miguel and J.J.; a daughter, M.J.; brothers, Rex of Lake Stevens, Washington; William (Karen) of Sunset, Utah; Max (Melanie) of Lake Stevens, Washington; sisters, Penny (LeWayne) of Hurricane, Utah; Tammy (Jim) of Vernal, Utah; Mary (Dana) of Hagerman, Idaho; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, sister Roxanne, sister-in-law Golda Swank, and numerous aunts and uncles.
