George Daniels Jr.

Written by his sister Estella D. Budge

March 1992

George Daniels was the third child born to George Daniels, Sr. and Mary May Bolingbroke. He was born August 24, 1900, in Malad City, Idaho. He went to Malad Schools and graduated from High School.

He worked all his life with his father on the farm at Daniels, Idaho and bought his father’s farm and it is still in his son, DeVon Daniels’ name.

George was a strong man and it was said that he could pitch more forks of hay and faster than any man from the ground to the hay wagon.

He was a very handsome man and had many friends. He lived most of his life in Malad.

He married Hannah Vaughan, his only sweetheart, September 21, 1925. They had two sons, DeVon and Gary Daniels. Gary was killed in an automobile accident coming home from Pocatello, when he was 20 years old. His cousin was driving the car.

They had a hard time getting over that.

They built a very nice 2 bedroom home in Malad and his grandson. Kevin Daniels, lives there now.

George and Hannah had problems. I don’t know what they were as he always loved Hannah so much and never did tell what his problems were.

He became inactive in the church when she left him and got a divorce. He never stopped loving her.

He took care of her mother and father’s funerals, and burials. He was a very compassionate person. He was always there to help friends when they needed help. He lived and loved sports and loved his family.

He got active in the church when he and Hannah got remarried and he became a High Priest and they went to the Logan Temple and were sealed, March 29, 1965. Hannah preceded him in death.

George was a hard working farmer and cattleman. He was a quiet man, never having much to say. He was loved by all his family.

He died from miners pneumonia, which he got from feeding cattle in the winter time. He was in the hospital in Ogden, Utah for 2 weeks and died April 30, 1984. He was buried in the Malad City Cemetery. He was 84 years old.

Hannah Vaughan was born February 14, 1905, and died May 28, 1983.
