George Arthur Muirbrook, 18 October 1922

George Arthur Muirbrook, 79, passed away July 14, 2002 surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 18, 1922 in West Warren, Weber County, the tenth child of Alexander and Serena Matilda White Muirbrook. George had four brothers and five sisters. He attended Weber County Schools and graduated from Salinas High School in Salinas, CA. George married Shirley Atkinson from Samaria, ID on January 24, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple.

George’s occupations included over the road truck driver, heavy equipment operator and construction foreman of various companies and retired after 30 plus years with E.H. Knudson. George was a WWII veteran and served his country in the Air Force. He was a high Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as the ward clerk under five Bishops for 11 years from February, 1964 to 1975. He also served as the financial clerk from 1975 until released. He was instrumental in the establishment of the West Warren-Warren Water Improvement District and was chairman of the Board of Directors from January, 1983 to January, 1985.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, of West Warren. His children, Dian Carlin, West Warren; Eldon (Glenna) Muirbrook, Provo; Jolene (Stephen) Turner, McKenney, VA; Paul (Marla) Muirbrook, Casper, WY; Allen Muirbrook, Taylor; Ross Muirbrook, Salt lake City; Val (Roseann) Muirbrook, Washington Terrace, and a brother Elmer Muirbrook, Ogden. He has 27 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, three brothers, son in law, John W. Carlin, Jr. and grandson, Gregg Andrew Muirbrook.

Funeral services will be held July 19, 2002 at the West Warren Chapel. Interment will follow at the West Warren Cemetery. Arrangements by SereniCare, Funeral Directors.
