Gary Ray Moore
September 21, 1938 – October 27, 2023

On October 27th, 2023, Gary Ray Moore Passed peacefully after battling a long illness, at home surrounded by his family. Gary was born September 21, 1938, to Charles S Moore & Ada M Simpson the 2nd oldest of five children.

Gary was active in 4-H all through his years in high school showing horses and cows. Gary double-dated with his older brother Robert (Bob) one weekend and ended up meeting his Partner for life Marilyn Grover (Which was Bob’s date). Together they bought Roy Phillphs service station and started their life. They sold it later. Gary went to work for Woods Motors in Ogden as a mechanic Where he started being sponsored by them to race cars at Rocky Mountain Raceway. Together he and Marilyn would race their cars on weekends. After a short period, they moved to Springfield Oregon Where he worked for Caterpillar and John Deere. They had an only child Jeffrey R Moore. After having Jeff they decided to move back to Utah to be close to family. Gary went to work for Horsley Company where he spent many years being a forklift mechanic before becoming Service Manager.

Gary always had a knack for racing and decided to start racing horses. Gary was a leading trainer many different times during the flat track seasons where they followed the Idaho race circuit during the summer. They got involved in Chariot racing the year of 1987 when he partnered with Ken Taylor for Taylor Trucks and Moore. That was the start of Chariot racing. They continued to chariot race for many, many more year’s meeting and becoming friends with many people throughout their racing days. Gary was a member of Wasatch Slope Assoc along with many other Horse affiliated groups.

They then made there last move to Malad to retire and let their horse’s enjoy retirement also. They spent their time with their family and friends Going fishing, four wheeling, camping and going to the races and watching. Gary always looked forward to the deer hunt every year where he would be camped out for 7 days with his family and friends. Gary was an experienced farmer which he grew his own hay for his horse’s along with cutting and baling the crop. Gary succeeded with everything he did and accomplished what he set forth to do with the help of his loved one for life Marilyn.

Gary is survived by his son and wife Jeffrey & Leann Moore of Malad, his grandchildren Jeff Jr. & Savanna Moore (Daughter Jazzy) of Logan. Stephanie & Kevin Bradford (Daughter Olivia) Clearfield, Tyson & Kaylie Linger (Son Izaiah, Payton, Ryker Daughter Maria) Two sister’s and one brother.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn G Moore, His older brother Dan and his parents.

Gary will be loved and missed by all who knew him. A special thank you to Hands of Hope Hospice service for there well experienced staff that helped and comforted the family and Gary through his last days. Special Thank You to Dr. Teeples. Graveside services will be held Friday 11/03/2023 at the Malad Cemetery 11:00 AM 375 south 300 west, After Everyone is invited to meet at the St .Johns Stake center for some good eats. 1250 1100 west Malad.
