GODDARD, FREDERICK

Frederick (Fred) Goddard, 69, of Malad, died March 16, 1981 at Bannock Memorial Hospital in Pocatello.

He was born August 17, 1911 in Malad to Martin Lee and Ruth Ann Thomas Goddard.

He grew up and attended school in Malad. In his early 20s he moved to Ely, NV, where he worked as a butcher for a short time and then worked for the Nevada Northern Railroad.

On July 27, 1937, he married Lila Carson in Ely, NV. They moved to Salt Lake City where he worked for the Remington Arms Co. during World War II. He later worked for the C&RG Railroad for over nine years. They moved back to Malad in 1948 where he worked for Lawrence Jones & Co. He then worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement in 1975.

He was a member of the Church of of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include his wife, Malad; six sons and two daughters, Fred Ferron Goddard, Malad; Thomas C. Goddard, Germany; Jack Carson Goddard, Heyburn; Lee Gene Goddard, Pocatello; Dan C. Goddard, Lewiston; Larry Rick Goddard, Malad; Mrs. James Leonard (Ruth Ann) Jones, Morenci, AZ, and Mrs. Richard Lloyd (Elgy Della) Rogers, Fallon, NV; 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; and eight sisters, Mrs. John Lawrence (Amelia) Strouse and Mrs. Floyd M. (Ruth) Copen, both of Ely, NV; Mrs. Robert (Irene) Richards, Inglewood, CA; Mrs. Elizabeth Reynolds, Mrs. Jacob (Charlotte) Koer, and Mrs. Chester (Jeanette) Bailey, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Newell (Anna) Nish, Plymouth, UT; and Mrs. Melvin (June) Thompson, Texas. He was preceded in death by one daughter and four brothers.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Malad LDS Third Ward Chapel with Bishop Garth Sweeten officiating. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
