Fern Ada Haviland Gleed

GLEED, FERN, July 3, 1896 – August 14, 1966

Funeral services were held August 17, 1966 at the Malad LDS Stake building for Fern Ada Haviland Gleed, age 70, who died Sunday, August 14, 1966 in Malad, Idaho, following a long illness. Bishop Lon W. Corbridge officiated the services.

Family prayer was offered by G.R. Moss; the invocation by Colen H. Sweeten, Jr., and the benediction by Pierce Sorenson. Speakers were President S.A. Hendricks and Bishop Corbridge, who read the obituary. Special music included a vocal solo, Eldon Corbridge; violin solo, Fern Willie. Myra Jean John was accompanist and played the prelude and postlude music.

At the Malad City Cemetery, the dedicatory prayer was offered by Raiford G. Benson. Flowers were carried by members of the Third LDS Ward Relief Society. Casket bearers were Gene Jacobson, Deon Jacobson, Brent Jacobson, Dennis Gleed, Lonny Gleed and Terry Sorensen. Benson Funeral Home was in charge of interment.

Mrs. Gleed was born July 3, 1896 in Knox County, Neb. and was married to Joseph Gleed, Nov. 10, 1917 at Malad. The marriage was solemnized Sept. 3, 1924 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She was educated in Denver and attended the University of South Dakota.

Mrs. Gleed was an active member of the LDS church and served in the Malad Stake Geneological Society and the Primary and Relief Society. She also was active in the Red Cross.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Gleed, Malad; one son, Probate Judge J. Frederich Gleed, Malad; and one daughter, Mrs. Russell J. (Eva) Jacobson, West Jordan, UT.

There are five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister also survive. They are Lee and Arthur Haviland, both of North Ogden, UT; Howard Haviland of Trout Creek, MT and Mrs. Eleanor Knutson, Nixon, MT.
