Evan J. Evans

EVANS, EVAN J., February 18, 1879 – September 7, 1963

Funeral services were held at the Malad Second LDS Ward Chapel for Evan J. Evans, 84, who died September 7, 1963 in the Cassia Memorial Hospital in Burley following a long illness.

At the home family prayer was by Leon C. Alder. At the chapel, with Bishop G. max King officiating, organ prelude and postlude music was by Myra Jean John. Prayers were given by Rex Jensen and Mitchell Deschamps. Speakers were Griff L. Jenkins, Dr. Thos. W. Richards and obituary was by Bishop King. Musical numbers were vocal duet, Wanda Napier and Thelma Price; vocal solos, Carolyn Ward and Jenkin Palmer. Musical accompanist was Myra Jean John.

Concluding rites were conducted at the Malad City Cemetery with dedicatory prayer given by Bishop J.A. Servoss. Flowers were under the supervision of officers and teachers of the Second Ward Primary and friends. Casket bearers were Ronald A. Forbess, Richard W. Forbess, MJichael G. Smalley, David E. Smalley, James W. Palmer and Jess J. Thomas.

Services were under the direction of Benson Funeral Home.

Mr. Evans was born February 18, 1879 at Malad, a son of William W. and Mary Jones Evans. He married Clara Esther Bolingbroke November 18, 1903 at Malad. She died July 23, 1960.

He received his education in Malad schools and spent his life time farming.

Survivors include two sons and four daughters: Chester E. Evans, Fort Collins, CO; Dr. Wesley H. Evans, Stockton, CA; Mrs. Richard A. (Erma) Forbess, Nyssa, OR; Mrs. Wendell W. (Mary) Palmer, Burley, ID; Mrs. Lynn C. (Jennie) Alder, Malad; Mrs. George E. (Ilene) Smalley, Long Beach, CA. One brother and two sisters, Gomer J. Evans and Mrs. Annie Ripley, Malad; Mrs. Effie Smith, Downey, CA; 21 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
