Eugene J. Williams

Eugene J. Williams, 71, passed away December 25, 1998 at home. He was born July 8, 1927 to Robert Elvin and Annie C. Williams in Malad, Idaho. He married Rose Rumesy, they later divorced. Gene married M. Lorraine Goldwater on September 24, 1951 in Tremonton, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on July 8, 1964.
Gene was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
Gene retire from the Ogden City Parks Department in 1986, where he had been an assistant to the Director of Parks and Recreation. He was superintendent over the Ogden City Cemetery. He loved working with people and he especially loved being Santa Claus for 21 years at the Ogden City Municipal Gardens.
Gene’s hobbies were fishing, traveling, music, keeping his yard beautiful and decorating his yard, for Christmas. Gene was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine. Five sons and two daughters, Tom (Val) Williams, Las Vegas; Mark (Ty) Williams, Richfield; Gary (Patti) Williams, Hooper; Stacie (Morna) Williams, Ogden; Dorene (Wayne) Kern, North Ogden; Annette (Tom) Finn, North Ogden; Mike Williams, Lewiston, Idaho. 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, all who loved him dearly
Gene is also survived by four brothers and three sisters, Errill, Edwin and Darhl Williams all of Malad, Idaho; Robert Williams, Jerome, Idaho; Annie Fenhaeff, Salt Lake; Ella Mae Lott, Blackfoot, Idaho; Joyce Scott, North Ogden; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Barents and three brothers, Leon, Ray and Clyde.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 29, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington 3lvd. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, prior to the service, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. it the mortuary.
