Funeral services Friday for Mrs. Esther Lusk Hess, 83
Bishop Conrad C. Alder conducted funeral services Friday for Mrs. Esther Lusk Jones Hess, age 83, who died June 29th at Pocatello.
Blair Jones offered the family prayer; William D. Thomas offered the invocation at Malad LDS First Ward Chapel; LaVern Colton, the benediction. Speakers were President Herman Miller Jr., Bishop Alder and Mrs. Elaine Castleton, who read a life sketch. Jerkin L. Palmer sang a solo and Cheryle Shepherd, Wendy Jones and Ilene Hess, a vocal trio. The prelude and postlude were played by Mrs. Pauline Buehler and the accompanist was Mrs. Janice B. Palmer
At Malad City Cemetery, Don Lee Hess offered the dedicatory prayer. Casket bearers were Marvin Hess, Don Lee Hess, Wendell Landon, Dean Landon, Wayne Shepherd, Ed Jones and Samuel Hess.
Flowers were arranged by members of the Malad LDS First Ward Relief Society; Merle Mills, president.
Benson Funeral Home directed the burial.

MALAD, IDAHO – Esther Lusk Jones Hess, 83, died June 29 in a Pocatello rest home of natural causes. Born Oct. 23, 1886, Malad, to William E. and Cynthia Lusk Jones. Married Joseph W. Hess, April 2, 1913, Salt Lake LDS temple; he died January, 1959. Member LDS Church. Survivors: sons, daughter, Marion J., Richard J., Melvin J., Orvil J., Earl J., Mary Alice Landon, all Malad; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, William L., Malad. Funeral Friday 1 p.m. Malad First LDS Ward Chapel. Friends call Benson Funeral Home, Malad, Thursday night, Friday prior to services. Burial Malad City Cemetery.

Esther J. Hess, 83, died Monday
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m., Friday, July 3rd, for Mrs. Esther Lusk Jones Hess, age 83, who died Monday at a Pocatello rest home after a long illness.
Mrs. Hess was born at Malad, Oct. 23, 1886, a daughter of William Evans Jones and Cynthia Maria Lusk Jones. She was married to Joseph W. Hess on April 2, 1913, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in January, 1959. Mrs. Hess received her education in the Malad schools. She was active in the LDS Church, having served as a teacher in the Primary and Relief Society.
Surviving are five sons and a daughter, Marion J., Richard J., Melvin J., Orvel J., Earl J., Alice Landon, all of Malad; 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one brother, William L. Jones, Malad. Three sons preceded her in death.
Bishop Conrad C. Alder will conduct the services at the Malad LDS First Ward Chapel at 10 a.m. Friends may call at Benson Funeral Home Thursday evening and Friday morning prior to services. Burial will be at the Malad City Cemetery.
