Ervin R. Jones

Ervin R. Jones 28 March 1926

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend returned to his Heavenly Father on November 13, 2003 at his home following a three year bout with cancer.

He was born in Cherry Creek, ID, a son of John and Ruby Aeschiliman Jones. He served his country well in the US Navy from 1944-51. He was stationed on the carrier ship USS Windham Bay. He received the Pacific Theatre ribbon. He was able to see much of the world but was happy to see home again following his discharge.

He married his sweetheart, Iris John on September 14, 1951 in Portage, UT. They were blessed with two children: Michael Ervin and Jennifer. Ervin was employed with Lester Hartvigsen for many years. He loved farming and the outdoors. He photographed and video taped a great amount of outdoor scenery. Although he said he didn’t like flowers, many can be seen in the photos he took. He also enjoyed woodworking and built storage chests and many intricate clocks, which he gave to family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Iris John Jones; his son, Mike (and girlfriend, Joy Carter); his daughter, Jennifer (Andy) Smith; grandchildren, Sara, Jess, Emma, Jarom, Jacob and Aaron Smith; sister, Margie (Doyle) Lowrey; brothers, Don (Durene), Gene (Pat), Stephen (Sharon), Robert (Marrdella), Mont and Billy (Sherrie).
