Emanuel Brookes Last Will and Testament 

In the name of God, Amen, I Emanuel Brookes of Moreton in the Marsh in the County of  Gloucester, Wheelwright, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, but mindful of my mortality do this fifth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, first I devise that one hundred and fifty pounds be paid out of my personal estate to Mr. William White of Moreton in the Marsh in the county of Gloucester, Yeoman, at the discretion of my Trustees hereinafter named and as to all the rest, residue, and remainder of my said personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind and quality soever the same may be I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Elizabeth Brookes whom I make my sole Executrix of this my last will and testament.  And lastly I appoint Mr. William White of Moreton in the Marsh aforesaid, and Mr. John Bliss of Salford in the County of Oxford, trustees of this my  last will and testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.  (signed) Emanuel Brookes

Note:  Emanuel Brookes died 18 Oct 1828.  His will was proved by Elizabeth Brookes in the Gloucester Consistory Court 10 Jan. 1835.  It is not unusual for several years to elapse between death and probate of will.
