ELIZA CECILIA DREDGE RUTTER

Eliza Cecelia Dredge Rutter, longtime Malad resident, died Saturday, November 3, 1990, in the Oneida County Hospital.

She was born December 17, 1900, in Malad to Jesse H. and Eliza Rosetta Kunz Dredge. She grew up and was educated in Malad, and later attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. She then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the central states.

She married William Henry Rutter on March 19, 1924 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He died February 7, 1978.

She worked for Crowther Milling Company for several years. She and her husband later purchased Millstream Grocery in Malad in 1948, which they operated until their retirement.

She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as stake and ward Relief Society secretary, teacher in Primary and Sunday School, and as a visiting teacher. She and her husband served a mission to the southern states.

She was director of the Oneida County Red Cross, member of the PTA and of the Oneida County War Mothers.

She is survived by two sons, William J. Rutter, San Francisco, California; J. James Rutter, Pleasant Grove, Utah; three daughters, Mrs. Max L. (Ruth) Call, Idaho Falls, Mrs. Laren W. (Helen) Smith, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Thelma Gibbs, three daughters, Mrs. Max L. (Ruth) Call, Idaho Falls, Mrs. Laren W. (Helen) Smith, Salt Lake City,[repeated sentence] and Mrs. Nick H. (Karen) Randall, Mesa, Ariz.; 26 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wilford J. Dredge, Soda Springs, and Calvin C. Dredge, of Rupert; eight sisters, Mrs. Ellen Castleton, Salt Lake City, Mrs. Junius (Mary) Crowther, Orem, Utah, Mrs. Ralph (Hettie) Barnes, Salt Lake, Mrs. Thelma Gibbs, Portage, Utah, Mrs. Merle (Ruth) Swanson, Mesa, Ariz., Mrs. Rulon (Rose) Ward, Santa Clara, Utah, Mrs. James (Norma) Hill, St. George, Utah and Mrs. Rosell (Elaine) Mills, of Malad. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 1 p.m. in the Malad First Ward Chapel, 308 W. 400 N., Malad. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Malad Cemetery.
