Funeral Friday For E. E. Richards

Funeral services for Elias E. Richards, 77, who died at his home in Malad Monday [December 11, 1950] of a heart ailment, will be held Friday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Reorganized LDS church.

Mr. Richards, son of William and Margaret Richards, was born in Malad, March 6, 1873. He grew to manhood on his father’s farm in Elkhorn. For a number of years he farmed in the Elkhorn section.

On February 12, 1916, he married Flora Phillips. Shortly afterwards they established their home in Malad and have lived here since. For a number of years he was employed as a grain buyer by the Malad elevators and then established a coal business. In August, 1945, he sold the coal business and retired.

Since young manhood he has taken an active part in the Reorganized LDS church and at the time of his death he was president of the Malad branch.

He served two terms as a member of the Malad City council. For several years he was chairman of the Oneida county Republican central committee.

He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Glen A. Carlson of Van Nuys, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. J. M. Daniels, Caldwell, and three granddaughters.
