Elene Vaughan Gilgen

GILGEN, ELENE VAUGHAN, October 2, 1922 – October 29, 1950

Mrs. Elene Gilgen, 28, born at Malad October 2, 1922, a daughter of mr. and Mrs. Edwain Vaughan Jr. was the victim of a car accident in Los Angeles. Mrs. Gilgen, in company with John Hogen, driver of the car, and Mr. and Mrs. George Gaulden, (Mrs. Gaulden was the former Erma Lundquist of Malad) were enroute from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Vaugahn, brother and sister in-law of Mrs. Gilgen when they were struck by another car which was on the wrong side of the road on Washington Blvd., near Anaheim and Telegric Road in Los Angeles.

They were rushed to the Holy Cross Hospital in Los Angeles where she succumbed after regaining consciousness. The others were also seriously injured. Her husband died two years ago.

Surviving are two children, Lawrence, 12, Janet, 9, her parents, one brother Glen Vaughan of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. Fern Browning, Downey, ID; Mrs. Grace Bailey, Ogden.

The remains will arrive this morning at Malad and may be viewed at the Malad Funeral Home prior to the services which will be held Friday at the Second Ward Tabernacle.
