Funeral planned here for Mrs. Effie Evans Smith

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9th, at the Benson Funeral Home for Mrs. Effie Evans Smith, 88, Downey, California and former Malad resident, who died Tuesday in a Downey hospital of natural causes.

Bishop Gordon Crowther will officiate at the services. Friends may call at the Benson Funeral Home Friday evening and Saturday prior to service. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery directed by Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 26, 1882 at Malad, a daughter of William and Mary Jones Evans. She was married to William Henry Smith in 1902 at Malad. Mr. Smith died in 1956.

Mrs. Smith was an active member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include four sons, Vern E. Smith, Woodland Hills, California; Gomer H. Smith, Downey, Calif.; Clarence J. Smith, Montebello, Calif.; Ralph L. Smith, Hacienda, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Annie Ripley, Malad.
