Earl L. Dredge (Born 12 Sep 1905/Death 10 Jan 1986)

Earl L. Dredge, 80, 1072 Gray, died Friday (10 Jan 1986) after an extended illness.

He was born Sept. 12, 1905 to Richard and Ester Dredge, in Malad. After attending school in Sugar City, he moved to Shelley where he met and married Bessie Jane Fowler in August of 1929.

He served in the United States Army during World War II as a staff sergeant in Germany, where he was wounded in action.

After he spent 3 ½ years in the veterans’ hospital, they made their home in Idaho Falls. One year later, they moved to Pocatello where he worked for Pacific Fruit Express for 27 years, retiring in 1972. He was an avid fisherman and a great storyteller.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Richard Kim Dredge, Boise; six brothers, David, Caldwell; Clair, Roy, Utah; Jay, Las Vegas; Talbot, Roy and Doyle, all of Shelley; two sisters, Luella Pehrson, Rupert; and Ruth Hogan, West Jordan, Utah.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Downard Funeral Chapel, 241 N. Garfield. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery.

The family suggest memorials be made to the Idaho Conservation League or a favorite charity.
