Evans, Dorthy R. – Jul 18, 1912

MALAD- Dorthy Marie Roberts Evans, 83, of Malad, died Monday, October 23 1995, at the Oneida
County Hospital.

She was born July 18, 1912, in Pocatello, a daughter of Paul and Anna Etta Bradley Roberts. She
was educated in Pocatello, was a graduate of Westminster College in Salt Lake City, and later received
training as a nurse at Pocatello General Hospital.

She married Darrel E. Evans March 4, 1936, Vale, Oregon, They were later divorced. Her love was nursing, an occupation she embraced from 1937 until her retirement in 1974.

She was a member of the Catholic Church, and belonged to the St. Paul’s mission. She was also a member of the Oneida County War Mothers organization.

She is survived by two sons, D. Robert Evans of Danville, California, and Paul and his wife, Darlene Evans of Malad: two daughters, Mrs Verlin (Dorthy) Hess of Plymouth, Utah, and Margaret Ann Pyke of Malad; nine grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Wilkins of Nampa.

Mass of the Christian Burial will beheld Thursday, Oct., 26, at 11 a.m. In the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, with father John Wurster, officiant. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 p.m. To 9 p.m., and on Thursday for one hour prior to services. Burial will be at he Mountainview Cemetery, Pocatello.

American War Mothers Chapter draped for Dorthy Evans

 The American War Mothers of Oneida County Chapter II met Friday, November 10, 1995 at 3:00 p.m. In the American legion building. Chapter President Lorraine Issacson presided. Chaplin Helen R. Thomas gave the opening prayer and led the collect. Flag Bearer, Lucille Christofferson, presented the flag and led the pledge of Allegiance. Music Director, Mae Williams, accompanied on the piano by Mother Nancy Benson who led the song “America “ for all to sing.

Draping the Charter for deceased Mother Dorthy Evans was conducted by Chapter President Lorraine Isaacson and the prayers were given by Chaplin Helen R. Thomas. Mother Nancy Benson gave tribute “Memoriam and Resolution.” Mother Glads Evans welcomed the family and introduced the program. Two songs were played and sung by Christie Oja and Jill Blaisdell, “This Is My Country” and “You Don't Count The Cost”. Mother Mae Williams played a piano solo “By The Waters Of Galilee.” Eight family members were present with ten members in attendance. Chapter President Lorraine Isaacson excused visitors and a business meeting was conducted.

Minutes of the previous meetings were read and roll call taken by Mother Nancy Bensen. Treasure Helen R. Thomas gave the annual financial report. The Chapter president read a letter referring to dues from the Nationals. Dues and a Christmas Party were voted upon. Mother Nancy Benson gave a report on the Idaho State Convention in Idaho falls last summer.

 Chaplin Helen R. Thomas gave the closing prayer. Flag Bearer Lucille Christofferson retired the colors. A penny drill was collected. Chapter President Lorraine Isaacson closed and adjourned the meeting.
