Donna Faye Goddard, (1943)

Donna Faye Goddard
December 13, 1943 – December 29, 2023

Malad, Idaho…Donna Faye Goddard, 80, lifelong Malad resident, passed away on Friday December 29, 2023. Donna was born in Malad on December 13, 1943 to Vadel LeGrand Swenson and Jennie Marie Swenson.
Growing up, she spent winters in Malad and summers in Arbon valley on the farm. She was raised and educated in Malad and was a 1961 graduate of Malad High School.

She married James Leland Goddard on June 8, 1962 in Malad. They made their home in St John, just west of Malad, where they farmed and ranched. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was sealed to her husband and her family in the Brigham City Temple in 2013.

Donna’s greatest love was her family, and she would do anything for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved being with her family more than anything. She was always her kids’, grandkids’, and great grandkids’ greatest cheerleader in sports and other activities.

Donna loved to knit and crochet, and could always be found making items for her family even to the very end. She also loved wearing colorful and bright clothes and shoes to match her personality…tie-dye was her favorite style. Donna loved the outdoors even if it was just outside on the deck watching over Malad with her cats, caring for her garden in the yard, and making crafts in her she-shack. She also loved riding horses, going for rides, snowmobiling and golfing.

Later in her life, she found great joy spending winters at their second home in Yuma Arizona where they enjoyed flea markets and trips to Los Algadonis. Donnawas fun-loving, serving, kind, and generous to all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her three children, Tracy (Mike) Burden of Nampa, Idaho; James (Tonya) Goddard of Layton Utah; and Jerry (Heidi) Goddard of Malad including 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Swenson of Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her husband (James), parents (Vadel & Marie), and sister (Shirlee Ward).

Funeral services will be held on Friday January 5, 2024 at 12:00 pm noon at the Horsley Funeral Home in Malad.
