HANCOCK, DONALD ORSON, SR., March 5, 1922 – July 2, 2004

SOUTH OGDEN – Donald Orson Hancock, Sr. passed away peacefully on July 2, 2004 at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living of natural causes. He was born on March 5, 1922 in Malad, Idaho to Emma Maude and Orson Hancock. He was raised in Malad and Victor, Idaho during his childhood years. After graduating from high school in Victor, Idaho, where he was valedictorian. He served in World War II. Upon returning from WWII, he went to school at Stanford University then proceeded with his career at the Defense Depot in Ogden, Utah.

He had a very successful career, retiring after 40 years of service at DDO. He received many awards for his dedicated service.

Donald married Lorraine Perry on January 14, 1950 in Las Vegas and returned to Ogden to live and raise their family for the rest of their lives. Lorraine passed away December 9, 2001.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many capacities of the church and was a High Priest.

He was an avid hobbyist and loved to collect almost anything collectable. Donald also was an ardent sports fan throughout his life, after being very active in high school sports.

Surviving are three children: Kathy (Lowell) Stone, Cave Creek, AZ; Donald O. (Darlene) Hancock, Jr., Anchorage, AK; and David M. (Michelle) Hancock, West Point, Utah. He had many grandchildren who loved him very much. They are Jennifer and Michael Hancock, Dallin (Melody) Hardy, Beau, Tyler and Bethany Hardy, Kim and Rick Schreck, Angela Brandel and her daughter (Rachel). They thought the world of Grandpa. Donald loved his family and appreciated the time that he had with each one of them.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine P. Hancock; parents, Maude and Orson Hancock and sisters, Mabel Hartley and Maxine Isaacson.

Funeral services will be held July 8, 2004 at Leavitt’s Mortuary, Ogden, Utah. Interment, Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park.
