
Donald John Glidden
April 10, 1942 – October 20, 2023
Donald John Glidden, 81 years old, passed away on October 20th, 2023 following a log illness. He was a Lava Hot Springs long time resident.
He was born April 10, 1942 in Salmon, Idaho to John and Mollie Glidden. They moved to Bruneau, Idaho when he was 2 years old. He graduated from Bruneau High School in 1960 and graduated from Idaho State University in 1965. He then entered the U.S. Air Force and served as an Electronic Warfare Officer from February 1966 until retiring in March 1986. During his time in the service he spent time in Panama, Vietnam, Thailand, Korea and several Air Force bases in the United States. He served in the Air Force for twenty years and retired as a Major.
While stationed in Tucson, Arizona he he met Rita Papa and they were married on February 17th, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
After retirement he and Rita moved to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho where he established Glidden Log Homes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita, his daughter, June, his brother, Bill, his nephew, John and his parents, John and Mollie.
He is survived by his son, David Faila and daughter-in-law, Linda Faila, granddaughter Linsey Cox and her husband, Joe Cox and two great grandchildren, Zada and Alex. He is also survived by his brother, Ray Glidden and nephew, Donald Glidden.
Don was kind to everyone he met. He was a loving, caring man and will be missed by all that knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Horsley Funeral Home in Arimo, Idaho. Friends may visit with the family at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Bruneau Cemetery in Bruneau, Idaho at 3:00 p.m.
