Donald Acy Lyman
July 12, 1938 – January 20, 2025
Donald Acy Lyman passed away from natural causes on Monday , January 20th, 2025, in West Jordan, Utah, at the age of 86.
Don was the youngest of seven children. Growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah, he had a childhood of adventures and fun with his family and friends. He was a self-taught musician. He could never read a single note of music, but taught himself to play the piano, the flute and the accordion beautifully! He entertained others with his piano playing at many events and worked at the Salt Lake City International Airport as a pianist. If you ever flew in or out of SLC, you were likely serenaded by Don playing the grand piano at the airport.
Don was in the TV business. First as a television repairman, then later he turned his business to rebuilding picture tubes. This was a highly successful business which gave Don great satisfaction.
He married Ramona Taylor and together they had four children, Aaron, Eric, Greg, and Audrey. Dad made sure his young family spent as much time together as possible. Summers were filled with camping boating and playing family games at the park or in the backyard. Winters were spent tubing down the hills of our beautiful Utah mountains and sitting around the fireplace watching movies together as a family.
Education was particularly important to Don. He wanted to know as much about everything as he possibly could. He studied hard and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others.
Don is survived by his four children: Aaron (Michelle) Lyman, Eric Lyman, Greg Lyman, and Audrey (Paul) Toller. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and all but one of his siblings (Richard Lyman), and his dear friend Liddy.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 27th, 2025, at the Westland 3rd Ward, 7171 South 2700 West, West Jordan, Utah. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Burial will be at Malad, Idaho Cemetery that same day.
