Dianne Williams Holmes

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Dianne W. Holmes, 63, a 26-year resident of Olympia, died of respiratory failure Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Providence St. Peter Hospital, Olympia.

She was born June 18, 1937, to Lester and Edna (John) Williams in Malad, Idaho.

She married Col. Garth H. Holmes on April 5, 1958, in Elko, Nevada.

Mrs. Holmes was a teacher for 30 years. She taught for the Department of Defense and the Garrett Heyns Education Center at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton.

She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Mrs. Holmes enjoyed bridge, gardening, crafts, reading and travel.

She is survived by her husband, Garth H. Holmes of Olympia, Wash.; two daughters, Zan Johnston of Olympia, and Shannon Stewart of Moscow, Idaho; and one granddaughter.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Olympic Funeral Home, Tumwater, Wash.
