Dewey Fredrickson

FREDRICKSON, DEWEY, September 5, 1898 – August 26, 1976

Dewey Fredrickson, 77, Malad, died Tuesday at Oneida County Hospital of heart failure.

He was born Sept. 5, 1898 at malad to Charles Neils and Emma Jones Fredrickson. He married Olive Irene Hartley July 28, 1923 in American Falls.

Mr. Fredrickson was a farmer and stockman with acreage located at Deep Creek area.
He attended the Malad schools and Utah State Agricultural College. He was president of the Oneida County Farm Bureau ten years and was a member of the Idaho State Board of Farm Bureaus two years. He was president of the Malad Forest Users 25 years, a board member of the Pleasantview Livestock Assn. 15 years, and served on the advisory board of the Caribou National Forest Grazing Assn. He also belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles and attended the LDS Church.

Survivors include his wife of Malad; two sons and a daughter, Hartley Fredrickson of Salt Lake City; Gordon Fredrickson of Riverton, UT; and Kathleen Fredrickson of Salt lake City; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. William W. (Isabell) Jameson and Mrs. Sara Jensen, both of Ogden, UT; and Mrs. Dave H. (Edna) Bolingbroke of Moscow, ID.

Funeral service for Mr. Fredrickson was held Friday, Aug. 20 at the Malad LDS Stake Chapel with Bishop Darrell Swartz officiating. Family prayer was given by Leon J. Castleton at the Benson Funeral Home. At the chapel, Henry Gleed offered the invocation and Elaine Castleton delivered the life sketch.

Speakers were Norman Jaussi and Bishop Arthur Servoss. Soren Christensen gave the benediction.

Providing prelude and postlude music was Pearl Stuart. Karen Almond, June Ward and Marsha Waldron sang voal selections. Accompanist was Trudy Ward.

Concluding rites were at Malad City Cemetery where Joe Daniels gave the family prayer. In charge of flowers was the Malad 4th Ward Relief Society, Elaine Castleton, president.

Honorary bearers were Carl Burnett, Darrell Thomas, Rex Evans, Leland Morgan, Ralph Price, Cornelius Jones, William Peabody, William Jameson, Dave Kent and Colen H. Sweeten, Jr.
