Brawley, California – Dennis Delton Rainwater, Jr. 70, of Brawley, died Thursday, September 20, [1990] in California.

He was born May 27, 1920 in Paris, Arkansas, to Dennis Delton and Lyla[sic] Davis Rainwater. He was raised and educated in Arkansas. When he was 15, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked in northern Idaho. He enlisted in the Marines and served in World War II, stationed in the Pacific. He was a prisoner of war and was one of 19 survivors of the Bataan prison camp.

He married Edith Hawkins of Malad on March 11, 1953 in Yuma, Arizona. Since then, the couple lived in Brawley, where he owned and operated the Adobe Steak House.

He is survived by his wife, one step-son and a stepdaughter, Robin Leemaster[sic] and Mrs. Jimmy (Sue) Sanders, all of Brawley, California and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Thursday at noon in the Malad Cemetery.
