She attended Madison Elementary and Central Junior High. In 1949 Della graduated from Ogden high School.

She married Gordon Rollo Orme on October 7, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Ogden and became the parents of four children: William David (Bill) Orme; Karen Orme (Steven) Poorte; Corey Douglas (Wendy Williams) Orme; and Jason Ross (Jeanine Rabe) Orme.

She served Ogden City as an election judge and registration agent for twenty years. She spent fifteen years working in the extraction program for her church. She loved doing needlepoint and quilting.

Della belonged to the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, a member of Camp Sage organized in 1972. She served on the Weber South Company Board of DUP for sixteen years.

She compiled books for her family and friends. She shared two books of poetry, a cookbook, a quilt pattern book, stories about growing old, her life story, a book of pioneer ancestors and a book of family letters dating back to 1846. Four of her poems were published. She also researched and wrote the histories of 270 direct-line family ancestors.

Eleven grandchildren were proud to call Della “grandma”, granddaughters Jennifer, Joanne, Lauren, Erin, Megan and Christine and grandsons Jonathan, James, Austin, Michael and Ian. She had 14 great grandchildren. She loved them all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister and parents.
