Dawn Kent, 77, of Downey and long time Malad resident, died Monday, May 8, in the Oneida County Nursing Home.
He was born March 21, 1918, in St. John, Idaho, a son of Jesse James and Flossie Wilson Kent. He was raised and educated in St. John and Malad, as a young man had worked at farming and had logged in Kent canyon. He also worked for the C.C. Camps. During W.W. II, he served in the Aleutian Islands.
He married Norma Hill, September 30, 1943 in Tremonton, Utah. He spent most of his life in the Malad area, where he was an auto mechanic, and body and fender repairman. Mrs. Kent died May 23, 1983.
He married Joyce Field August 23, 1989. Since July of 1994 they had resided in Downey. He loved fishing, hunting and mining.
Dawn is survived by five sons and their wives: Larell and Cindy Kent, Gary and Vickie Kent, Paul Wilson and Della Kent Timothy and Shelia Kent, all of Idaho Falls: Gregory and Ruth Kent of Pullallup, Washington; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one brother, David and Lena Bell Kent of Downey; two sisters; Hannah May Ollenburger of Oakdale, California, and Leona Jorgensen of Layton, Utah. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma, one son, Joseph James, three brothers, one sister, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday May 11 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS 2nd/5th ward chapel. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones, Post #65.
