Davinah (Viney) Atkinson Evans

Divinah (Viney) Evans, 97, of Malad, died early today, May 9, 1996, in the Oneida County Nursing Home. Funeral services will be Monday, May 13, at noon in the Malad LDS Third Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N, Malad, Sunday, May 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Monday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. A complete obituary will appear in Friday’s Idaho State Journal.

MALAD- Davinah (Viney) Atkinson Evans, 97, of Malad, passed away Thursday, May 9, 1996 in the Oneida County Nursing Home.

She was born January 6, 1899 in Samaria, Idaho, a daughter of Alfred Henry and Hannah Elizabeth Waldron Atkinson. She was reared and educated in Samaria. She married Thomas Adams Evans on November 7, 1917 in Malad, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Mr. Evans died July 30, 1984.

Viney had been a lifetime resident of Malad. She loved to crochet, quilt, and was an excellent cook. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by one son, T. Marion and wife, Ruth Evans, of Malad; one daughter, Vera and husband, Frank Burns, of Bountiful, Utah; 12 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, William Atkinson, of Malad. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sons, Ernest and Eldon, six brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 13, 1996, at noon in the Malad LDS Third Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N, Malad, Sunday, May 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Monday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
