April 1949 (reported by Mrs. Estella D. Jones, Long Beach, California)
David M. Daniels celebrated his 90th birthday, March 26, 1949, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. M. Buchanan, 851 Beverly Dr. , San Gabriel, California, with his two other daughters, Mrs. Clark Sellers, San Mareno, California, and Mrs. Bert Eliason, Stone, Idaho; assisting.
The home was decorated with floral arrangements of pink camellias and an elaborate birthday cake. A frosted drink was served from two punch bowls on small tables in the patio. Ice cream, cake and coffee were served later. Everyone enjoyed the spacious lawn and patio for it was a lovely sunny afternoon. “Uncle” Dave said he felt better than he had for days and seemed to enjoy every minute. He has a keen sense of humor, very good vision and a marvelous memory. One can really spend a profitable afternoon listening to him reminisce. He received many birthday gifts and thanked everyone for coming.
