It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David (Jim) Moss who died from a prolonged illness on 7/26/21 in Malad, Idaho. Funeral Services with be held in Malad LDS 2nd Ward 20 South 100 West at 12:00 pm on Friday 7/30/21. Family and friends can also visit on Thursday 7/29 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. and on Friday before the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Horsley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Malad City Cemetery.

David James Moss, known as “Jim” was born on February 28, 1959, to Bill and Lila Moss in Malad, Idaho. He was welcomed by his three older brothers: Norval, John, and Ken. He married Jodi Barnes in 1980 and together they had 2 children: Kristy and DJ. They got divorced and Jim then married Karla Rookstool in 1987. He officially adopted Karla’s son, Lance, and later their daughter Cynthia was born.

Jim grew up in and around trucks and the trucking business. Jim was a long-haul driver and enjoyed taking a truck on the road when he could. He eventually became part-owner in Moss Trucking, Inc. He took great pride in his career and in his trucks. He began a tradition of his own when he entered a Moss Trucking Inc. float into the Fourth of July Parade. Moss Trucking has entered a float for the better side of three decades, with many awards, including the title “Grand Marshall” for a year.

Jim served the community of Malad in many capacities, some of which include: Fair Board Chairman, Juvenile Diversion Committee, Youth Sports League Coach.

He also enjoyed participating in plays hosted by the Iron Door Theatre. Jim held many roles in “Harvey”, “The Nerd”, and more.

When Jim wasn’t busy woodworking, building model trains, camping with his wife, or restoring his classic ’66 Ford Pickup, he was spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to drive them to the Drive-In in his golf cart to get shakes and would light up when they showed interest in his antique toy trucks or his animals.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, Bill, and sister-in-law Tammy Moss.

He is survived by his mother – Lila, wife – Karla, brothers – Norval (Gina), John (Anne), Ken, his kids – Kristy (Kyle), DJ (Stephanie), Lance (Elizabeth), and Cynthia (Steve) and his 12 grandchildren.
