Funeral Rites Held For David Hill

Funeral services for David Hill, 62, who died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George P. Jones, in Malad, Sunday after three years’ illness, were held Wednesday at 2 o’clock at the Second Ward Chapel.

Bishop Melvin Yearsley of the St. John Ward presided and Mrs. Mariam Talbot played the prelude and postlude. Arch Harris offered the prayer at the home, Jess Hess gave the invocation; John Blaisdell the benediction and J. Guy Benson dedicated the grave. The speakers were W.W. Thomas, J.M. Isaacson and Bishop Yearsley. The musical numbers were furnished by Jenk Palmer, Mrs. Pauline Atkinson, Mrs. Margaret Boam, Mrs. Mariam Talbot, Mrs. Wendel Monson, Donna Monson and Jackie Tovey. Interment was in the St. John cemetery.

Mr. Hill was born May 13, 1886 in St. John, Idaho the son of Katherine and Mathew Hill. He attended the school at St. John and also attended the agricultural college at Logan, Utah for 2 years. He had been a farmer in this valley until five years ago when he moved to Pocatello to work for the U.P. Railroad company, but on account of ill health three years ago he was unable to work on this job. For the past year he has gradually become worse and Wednesday of last week he was brought to the home of his daughter here.

He was married to Charity Wolverton September 11, 1911.

Surviving besides the widow are 12 children, namely: Nephi Hill, Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Elda Evans, Salt Lake City; Mrs. George P. Jones, Malad; Mrs. Hannah Rowel, Taylor, Texas; Mrs. Carson Crannor, Mrs. Katherine Ray Call, David Hill Jr., Ruth, Jeanine, Carol, Norene, Clayne Hill, Pocatello; and the following brothers and sisters, Alex Hill, St. Anthony; Andrew Hill, Boise; Ed Hill, Tom Hill, Will Hill, St. John and Mrs. John A. Evans, Malad.
