David Burton Napier, age 62, of Malad, died Sunday Jan. 16, at 285 South Main of a heart ailment.
He was born April 30, 1914 at Malad, a son of David Izatt and Charlotte Jones Napier.
He married Wanda Mae Ward Nov. 9, 1933 in Brigham City, Utah; the marriage was solemnized March 29, 1965 in the Logan LDS Temple.
He was a farmer and a mechanic. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served as past president of the Woodruff Sunday School and as a counselor in the Second Ward Sunday School; he was also a home teacher.
Survivors include his widow of Malad; one son and two daughters: Lynn Bardell Napier, Malad; Mrs. Harold (Ilene) Stettler, Sunset, Utah and Mrs. Seymour (Deanna) Oblad, Boise.
Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. LeRoy (VeElta) Gehring, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Wilford (Beryl) Jolley, Washington, Utah; Mrs. Ed (Sara) DeMille, Hurricane, Utah.
Funeral Service
Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 19 at the Malad Second LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Wesley Crowther officiating.
Lynn ward offered family prayer at the funeral home.
At the chapel, invocation was given by Pierce A. Sorensen.
Bishop Crowther gave the obituary and delivered remarks.
Speaker was Bishop Max King.
Offering the benediction was Lynn Alder.
Vocal selections were rendered by Barbara Call, Carol Daniels and Connie Budge. Performing in an instrumental trio were Fern Willie, Toni Hendrickson and Myra Jean John. Accompanist was Mrs. John who also played prelude and postlude music.
Concluding rites were held at Malad City Cemetery, where Raiford G. Benson offered the dedicatory prayer.
In charge of flowers were grandchildren and the Second Ward Relief Society, Glenda Jenson president.
Casket bearers were Claude Williams, Roland Jones, J. Tom Thorpe, David Jolley, Robert Jolley and Tim Stattler.
